Our story

Hi! My name is Christina Metherall and I am the founder of Rise Mountain Adventures and Elucidate Consulting. I am an Apprentice Hiking Guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, an environmental consultant, and lifelong explorer.

Rise Mountain Adventures began as a dream - an idea that emerged from conversations among friends over tea (and hikes!). We realized how much our outdoor adventures brought us together and how much they taught us about ourselves - and how much they helped us connect with our own joy, peace, strength, courage, and creativity.

I wasn’t born naturally athletic. I was always more of a book nerd and band geek. However, when I went to university, I discovered that stepping outside into the trees helped me unwind and recharge, which helped me to better in school. And as I didn’t consider myself particularly athletic, I felt intimidated to join hiking groups filled with more ‘athletic folks’ who’d grown up hiking and camping. So, I decided to venture out on my own. I had many ‘misadventures’ (and learned a lot of lessons the ‘hard way’!), but I was amazed by what these experiences taught me about my own abilities - and how they inspired me to become more confident in myself.

I dreamed of a time when I could help others discover and experience the joy, freedom, confidence, and peace I found in the mountains.

For the past decade, I worked at a desk and in board rooms, leading an environmental consultancy that helped communities tackle complex environmental and climate-change challenges, requiring collaboration, fresh thinking, and creativity.

As I facilitated hard conversations, I listened closely to Indigenous leaders who emphasized the importance of recognizing our interconnectedness with nature and one another. They shared that this awareness is essential for addressing our environmental and community challenges, and leading a more connected, peaceful, and meaningful life.

It was then that I realized that my two passions were interconnected. In today’s world, we need more time to connect, ‘ground’, and get inspired. We need to spend more time connecting with nature - so we can better understand how to protect it …and how to take care of ourselves.

Through Rise Mountain Adventures, I am excited to offer guided hikes, trail running, snowshoeing, running, and forest wellness tours. These experiences are designed to help people recharge, find inspiration, and live their best lives. We also provide nature-based team-building workshops and professional development activities that inspire the leaders of today and tomorrow to create a more sustainable, vibrant, and healthy future.

We look forward to hearing from you.
